Join us for a fantastic day of honoring and thanking the brave men and women of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Sylmar has one Fire Station! We will be there for fun, tours, treats, demonstrations, resources and so much more!

This is a great opportunity to let the kids (and some adults) climb and take photos on a Fire Truck!

Just as in the United States, May is big for moms in Mexico. But unlike the U.S.A., Mother's Day in Mexico is celebrated every May 10, as opposed to the second Sunday in May. El Dia de la Madre is a time to give moms their due, to gather together with family and to honor the huge role mothers play in everyone’s lives.

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass today (5/8/24) recognized the Los Angeles City Council for unanimously confirming Carmen Chang as General Manager of the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment. Ms. Chang will lead the department with a bold and equity-driven vision for the Department where Angelenos across the city can be civically engaged through the neighborhood council system to advocate for their communities on the issues that matter to them most.

City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department Camp ReadyLA

Applications are now open for Camp ReadyLA!

The City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department is hosting its second annual Camp ReadyLA: Emer-Gen-Z. Camp ReadyLA is a week-long program for young adults aged 17-22 that provides a look into the life of an emergency manager.

Campers will learn about disaster preparedness and participate in fun activities that will improve their team-building and leadership skills, to pave the way for their professional success.

Several careers in the Public Safety field will be showcased, highlighting emergency management coordination and capabilities for City response.

The program will run from Monday, July 29 to Friday, August 2, 2024, and will take place daily between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the City’s Emergency Operations Center in Downtown Los Angeles.

Applications will close on Monday, June 3, 2024.
