Dear friends of Sylmar Library,
Our GREAT Sylmar Library has a lot of great programs for all ages coming up this month, as well as a huge lineup of weekly summer programs starting in June!
They continue with Yoga for Beginners every Saturday at 11:30 am. -- all ages are invited to the workouts (no reservations needed), and they supply the yoga mats!
Their monthly Teen Council meetings continue with their next meeting on Monday, May 7 at 3:30 pm. Ages 10-19 are welcome to come help the Sylmar Library choose cool books and music CD's for teens, and learn about other ways to help the library -- free pizza will be served after the meeting!
As you're preparing for your summer vacations, plan on going by on Tuesday, May 8 at 3:30 pm. when Emmy Lam will take you on a video journey through our National Parks, while telling everyone about the rich history, geology and natural resources in our nation's parks.
On Saturday, May 19, they are screening the film Fences starring Denzel Washington (1 pm.), as well as giving away copies of the book Citizen: An American Lyric as part of this year's Big Read series of events.
Then on Wednesday, May 23 (6:30 pm.), Amateur Astronomer Neill Simmons will guide everyone on an exploration of The Spring and Summer Night Sky and talk about new discoveries and upcoming NASA missions to Mars and beyond. All ages invited!
June is also filled with some great events, such as Emmy Lam's Origami Craft (Monday, June 4, 3:30 pm.), LA Phil Violinist Paul Stein's musical performance(Saturday, June 9 at 1 pm.), and Frances O'Brien's Stress Reduction Techniques on Saturday, June 16 at 1 pm. All ages are invited!
Also, they will be having Teen Craft programs all summer long on Mondays at 3:30 pm. -- stay tuned for updates, and I hope to see you all at the library this Spring and Summer!
