El Cariso Park Juneteenth Celebration
Join us at El Cariso Park as we come together to celebrate Juneteenth on June 25th from 4p-8p., a day of freedom, culture, community, and remembrance.
Juneteenth, observed annually on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the resilience, achievements, and contributions of African Americans throughout history. It is a celebration rooted in family, culture, unity, and the ongoing pursuit of equality and opportunity for all.
This year, El Cariso Park is proud to host a fun-filled community celebration that brings people of all ages together through entertainment, food, recreation, and cultural appreciation.
Event Highlights
Juneteenth originated on June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce and enforce the freedom of the last enslaved African Americans, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Since then, Juneteenth has grown into a nationwide celebration that recognizes African American history, culture, and achievements while promoting education, reflection, and community engagement.
Across the country, Juneteenth is celebrated through cultural performances, music, food, educational programs, family gatherings, and community events. These celebrations provide opportunities to honor the past, celebrate the present, and inspire future generations.
At El Cariso Park, we invite everyone to join us as we celebrate freedom, culture, family, and community spirit. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors for an afternoon filled with entertainment, delicious food, fellowship, and fun.
Together, we celebrate history, honor resilience, and embrace the strength and diversity of our community.
Happy Juneteenth from El Cariso Park!
