COMMUNITY HEALTH ALERT: WEST NILE VIRUS DETECTED IN LA COUNTY
Please see the resources below in light of West Nile Virus cases detected in Maywood and Long Beach.
Here’s how to protect yourself:
- Use insect repellent when outdoors.
- Keep in mind that mosquitos are most active from dawn to dusk.
- Wear long sleeves and pants when possible.
- Check your yard regularly for standing water, and report mosquito breeding sites to glamosquito.org (LA County) or bit.ly/4xwOP52 (City of Long Beach).
- Report dead birds to the California Department of Public Health at westnile.ca.gov or call 1-877-WNV-BIRD.
