13203 Eldridge Ave, Sylmar, CA 91342
(Between Cranston Ave. / Gridley St.)

Friday, August 21st, at approximately 9:00 p.m., residents heard a constant rumbling and noticed large cracks in the center of the street with water flooding out. A member of the Sylmar Neighborhood Council happened to drive by and was able to make contact with the Rapid Response Team of the Department of Water & Power (DWP).
Thank you to the DWP for their amazing response time and swiftness and
for securing the area for community safety!
The water main built in 1963 broke, and water flooded through the concrete street. With a quick response from neighbors and the Sylmar Neighborhood Council, the area was secured, and traffic was warned and diverted. With a rapid response from DWP, the response crew shut off the water and took over the area. The street has not sunk or collapsed due to the break and is now ballooned up due to the damaged open-area space below.
Construction/repair to begin shortly,
The water shutoff will not affect the neighborhood.
