LA City - Community Investment Department (CID)

Posted on 09/07/2026

The Community Investment Department is a newly unified home for City of Los Angeles programs and services that help residents thrive at every stage of life. Formed by bringing together the Department of Aging, Youth Development Department, Economic & Workforce Development Department, and the Community Investment in Families Department, CID provides intergenerational programming.

By combining these four departments, CID strengthens and streamlines services for youth, families, older adults, job seekers, and small businesses. CID invests in people, neighborhoods, and pathways to economic mobility, working alongside community‑based organizations to build a stronger, more inclusive Los Angeles.

The unification of these four City departments — Community Investment for Families, Economic & Workforce Development, Youth Development, and Aging — into CID builds on the vital work of each while providing a more coordinated approach to serving communities.
