Big Dogs & Meow Meows Adoption Event

In an effort to help the animals in LA City shelters find loving homes, The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation is sponsoring the Big Dogs and Meow-Meows Adoption event from September 1-30, 2026 at all six LA Animal Services Centers. During the monthlong adoption event, adoption fees for dogs 40 lbs and over are $51 (does not include the $20 dog license fee for LA City residents), and adoption fees for cats a year old and older are $12.50.

Dogs and cats adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped, and adopters receive a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 of follow up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, canine companions adopted from LA Animal Services are also eligible for free dog training classes at the Paws for Life K9 Rescue People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA.
