Sylmar's Neighborhood Junior Tennis Program

Sylmar's Neighborhood Junior Tennis Program (NJTP) celebrated National Hispanic Month by supporting the Pancho Gonzalez & Rosie Casals Tennis Tournament at Cal State LA on Oct. 10.

• Out of 87 entries, there were 27 NJTP players entered!
• Many were playing their first tournament.
• 3 of their players swept their groups with 5-0 records.

More importantly, it was about families supporting their kids and coming together for two Tennis Champions of Hispanic descent.

Pancho Gonzalez, from Los Angeles, was #1 in the world. Many people are unaware of this achievement.

His success influenced Philip Siordia's coach to teach Philip, which in turn is now allowing NJTP's Coach Philip to teach these current players in our neighborhoods. Thanks to the Fritz B. Burns Foundation and the LA County Parks Recreation Department for their support of NJTP and our students.

CONGRATULATIONS!!
