Maclay Street Widening!

Last week, we broke ground on the Maclay Street Reconfiguration Project in Sylmar!

Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, Sylmar Neighborhood Council President Kurt Cabrera-Miller, community leaders, and stakeholders came together to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Maclay Street Widening Project. Maclay Street at Gladstone Ave. has always tapered from two lanes to one lane. This widening project will bring sidewalks to the area to assist with pedestrian accessibility. More importantly, with our ever-growing community, it will ease the daily traffic in and out of one of Sylmar's busiest travel arteries. This will be very important during future wildfires and disasters in the upper Sylmar area, the chaparral area, and along the foothills. Having the evacuation route physically doubled will add to our community's safety.

"Our community deserves safe, accessible streets, and I’m proud to have secured the funding to make this long-awaited project a reality. With new sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, and modern street lighting, we’re making Maclay Street safer for the families who call Sylmar home," said LA City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez.
