LA County Public Works • May Sediment Placement

This is to notify the Sylmar community of Los Angeles County Public Work’s (LACPW) new hauling and maintenance operations at May Sediment Placement Site (SPS), in Sylmar.  As a result of the recent storms, LACPW will be removing sediment from the following three debris basins in Castaic:

1. Mustang Debris Basin
2. Royal Terminus Debris Basin
3. Victoria Debris Basin

Hauling from these facilities to May SPS is scheduled to commence Monday, March 13, 2023 (weather permitting), and should be completed by the end of April 2023.

LACPW will implement best management practices and monitor haul trucks to make sure loads remain covered on public streets to ensure that dust and debris do not migrate offsite.  We will also use street sweepers to clean local roads comprising the haul route.

We are working on distributing flyers to the nearby communities and residents along the haul route.  Olive View Medical Center, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department Prevention Bureau in Sylmar, and the Olive View Gardens Apartment Complex have been notified of our hauling and maintenance operations via email and in person.  We are in the process of mailing notifications to the condo community at 13901 Olive View Lane.  Please feel free to share this information with local residents and communities, attached is a flyer you can share.
