As a result of the Hurst Fire and in preparation for future storms, LA County Public Works will be removing sediment from Stetson Debris Basin in Sylmar (map) and hauling it to May Sediment Placement Site (map) in Sylmar.
This maintenance operation is necessary to ensure public safety and provide critical flood protection to downstream communities.
Hauling is scheduled to commence February 18, 2025, and should be completed by February 25, 2025, weather permitting.
Please be advised that additional sediment removal may be necessary throughout the storm season.
Work is scheduled to occur primarily on weekdays, between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 pm, and on weekends as needed only for emergency circumstances.
